HISTORY OF DANSE ÉLAN
Danse Élan has been committed to dance and arts education since 1997. In January 2020, Jamie and Christopher Roumayah, the owners of Danse Élan, acquired My Inspirations Dance Academy, previously run by Jessy Arroyo in Denver, North Carolina. Danse Élan provides weekly classes and is conveniently located for residents of Denver, Mountain Island, Iron Station, Mt Holly, Lincolnton, Stanley, Huntersville, and nearby areas in North Carolina.
Danse Élan stands out in several ways: 1) Our training consistently emphasizes dance education and technique. 2) We maintain a strong ballet foundation in our program, along with a dress code. 3) Dancers of all ages are provided with modest costumes and age-appropriate choreography. 4) Non-competitive performance opportunities are offered through our youth company, DECYC (Danse Élan's Contemporary Youth Company).
With the unique, collaborative, and personalized teaching methods of Artistic Director Jamie Roumayah, students develop their dance skills and learn strategies for success, while teachers enhance their teaching abilities and improve student retention.
Additionally, Danse Élan has expanded to include a visual arts program for ages 4-13, with weekly classes that explore various mediums such as graphite, acrylic paints, watercolors, ink, clay, and more!
“Jamie is the most organized, knowledgeable and amazing dance instructor! My daughter was fortunate enough to sit under her tutelage for many years. During that time, my daughter grew tremendously both as a dancer and a young lady. Jamie was always firm, yet fair, honest and kind. Jamie is greatly missed at my daughter's dance studio and in the community in which she served!”
Debbie Summers - Parent of a Dancer
“My 13 year old dancer received a scholarship to participate in the Alvin Ailey Summer Intensive in New York City this past summer. She was among some of the best dancers in the country and she arrived very well prepared. Her technique was excellent and consistent with the other dancers. I give Jamie all the credit for that as she has always held her dancers to the highest standards and they are benefiting from that greatly. She has had an incredible influence over my daughter's training not only as a dancer but in all aspects of her life.”
