CONTEMPORARY YOUTH COMPANY

A performance-focused pathway rooted in artistry, education, and care.

Participation is by invitation and designed for dancers seeking deeper artistic growth within a supportive, non-competitive environment.

What Is the Youth Company?

The Danse Élan Youth Company is an extension of our core dance program for dancers who are ready for additional artistic opportunities. Rather than competing, company dancers focus on meaningful performance experiences, creative collaboration, and continued technical development within an education-centered framework.

This pathway is ideal for dancers who enjoy performing, value thoughtful training, and want to grow artistically without the pressure often associated with competition-based programs.​

Our Approach to Performance

At Danse Élan, performance is treated as an extension of education — not a scoreboard.

Our Youth Company emphasizes:

  • Artistic expression, musicality, and intention

  • Age-appropriate choreography, costuming, and themes

  • Safe, developmentally informed training for growing bodies

  • A strong technical foundation without pushing extremes

  • Collaboration, mentorship, and shared purpose

Dancers are encouraged to grow at a pace that supports both their physical well-being and their long-term love of dance.​

Performance Opportunities

Youth Company dancers may participate in a variety of performance experiences throughout the season, including:

  • The Winter Showcase

  • The annual Spring Dance Concert

  • Curated community and charitable performances

  • Dance festivals and educational performance events

Opportunities vary by age, experience, and readiness, and are thoughtfully paced to support each dancer’s growth.

Is the Youth Company a Good Fit?

This pathway may be a good fit for dancers who:

  • Enjoy performing and rehearsing regularly

  • Are curious, expressive, and committed to learning

  • Thrive in a collaborative, ensemble-based environment

  • Are ready for a deeper artistic experience

This pathway may not be the best fit for dancers seeking:

  • Competitive rankings, scoring, or titles

  • Frequent travel for competitions

  • A fast-tracked or pressure-driven training model

There is no “better” or “worse” path — only different ways to engage with dance based on individual goals and readiness.

How Dancers Join

Placement in the Danse Élan Youth Company is by invitation and based on readiness rather than age alone. Invitations may occur during the season or during designated evaluation periods.

Families are always encouraged to ask questions, observe classes, and have open conversations about whether this pathway aligns with their dancer’s goals and overall well-being.
